I wanted to make a robot from scratch and rig it. The rig has a lot of constraints, so that there is no clipping and motion is conformed to the mechanical design (I cheated a bit by using a lot of impossible ball joints in the design) based on a couple sketches some of which I made while modelling to work things out.
I was inspired by obvious things like portal robots, apple, wall-e... I wanted it to have human proportions though, because I don't do that much in CG and I made this for fun/practice. I plan on using this model in different projects though
There is an internal structure but it isn't too detailed as most of it shouldn't be seen clearly, might be useful for damaged variants. Also there was a plan to have a mechanism with cameras and stuff visible through the face (which would be semi transparent) but I removed this.
